Blooms, big blooms!

Roses, eustomas and a whole lot of nice looking grass.

Many brides go to flower shops or bridal shops for their flower bouquets. But - I - have a florist. Her name is --- Teri.

Teri is a multi-talented individual in the living space, especially the kitchen. Not only is she the owner of Grumpy Chef, a private dining restaurant and a bike accessories business, she cooks wonderfully and makes beautiful things even more beautiful....

.. she is my dear friend.

We spent a day at the wholesale florists, examining the many different species of roses, carnations, birds of paradise, fern, carnations, the beautiful chrysanthemums! . . and the afternoon at my place building the test bouquet. No one is more dedicated!

Knowing the perfectionist in her, I trust her wholeheartedly in the creation of my hand bouquet. This will not be an ordinary flower bouquet. It will be resplendent, magnificent & exactly what I want. It will be made with love.

Thank you Teri! I wish you a lifetime of happiness, with all my heart. xoxo

Thank you, Isabelle!

Today, our first wedding present arrived - under our door.

It was from Isabelle, my exchange advisor at SMU. Back when I first submitted my application forms for an exchange programme at Mexico, it raised more than a few eyebrows because yours truly knows no spanish; never been to the Americas and seems .. a little too confident.

That was a long time ago. And I wouldn't think we would have known each other that well if I hadn't generous and supportive parents (they paid for my exchange programmes - yes 2 of them) and very encouraging advisors at SMU. My mom and I were privileged guests at her wedding in sunny Langkawi and she has since had 2 very beautiful children.

So Isabelle, - thank you for guiding me along during my exchanges and answering my 'help! save me!" emails when I was lonely overseas. Comforting my mom in SG when I was far far away from home. You have been such a great presence to me when I was in Mexico and I wish you & your family all the very best. Love!!

Dinner at Fonda de la Santa Clara, 2004. What remains to be seen is the Mole we ordered after.

At Isabelle & Joon's wedding in Langkawi, 2007.

The card + angbow that came in this morning, 21 Aug 2011. *heart*

We met (with John this time) in San Francisco sometime 2006. Isabelle was there on a work trip and I was there for the summer hols. We shared a beer in St. Francis Hotel and talked about marrying for convenience. I still remember that. HAHA.

Ah.. memories!

Our wedding invites

This weekend has been a win of sorts. We collected our freshly printed wedding invites and finally gave our first batch out. It was a solid 2 hours tying the string and cutting the edges off our 'please be punctual' card - but it was worth it.

This is just a part of it, there is more!

Seeing our wedding cards in its entirety for the first time - felt very good. We took inspiration from various sources and developed the content with our story. Later on, John worked on the design. It is very 'us' - light hearted and yet sincere. We sure hope you felt that too ^^

O and the kids on the cover? That's us. And probably the only time you will ever see our baby photos at the wedding.

Take that!

Cake.

John and I have always been advocates of a true blue wedding cake. We will rather do without one than put the knife through a slit in plastic. But wedding cakes - the tiered types - cost a bomb. If you want special ingredients, add $500. If you want extra sugar flowers, add $800. If you want ribbon, add $100. If you want anything - add $2000. You get the idea.

We were down and out when one day, luck came knocking on our door. Or rather, via an sms.

"Hey. You need a cake for your wedding?"

It was my cousin, Chloe. Right under my nose, and I never thought of asking her. Smart me.

She is a trained baker with many hotel stints. And did I mention, a heart of gold. She knew weddings don't come cheap; and we aren't exactly in the right position to pay three grand for a cake... So I got a 'cousin' price. =p

Our wedding cake will have beautiful hand-painted flowers all over a pastel fondant cover. Just a teaser now--

Beautiful ain't it? :)

The only bling that John will ever own

Most of the time, when the food's consumed, the dancing and speeches done, the cake distributed and the mad partying's stopped, one of the few things left to symbolise a married couple is the wedding rings.

We hope you share our taste for simplicity and class; tradition & character.

'A deal's a deal'

Of crabs & love.

Today is John's birthday. Knowing that we are saving leave for our honeymoon, I whisked him off the weekend before to Turi Beach Resort. Boy, were we more than pleasantly surprised! The resort was beautiful with it's own beachfront. Our room was rustic - almost cottage-like and we spent many hours snoozing in the hammock by the water with our Bintang beers.

the Jetty out at sea. The walk's quite romantic.

shiok right?

So the other night we decided to go grab a seafood dinner at the kelong. Not only did I order 2 servings of crab (my favourite seafood but just for me. John doesn't like to work for his food), we ordered enough dishes for 8 people. Until now, I still can't quite figure out how we managed to clear the plates. Anybody who loves crab as much as I do should know by now that a hungry person eating crab is just like a vulture attacking her prey. I was breaking the shells in a frenzy, stuffing my face with the glorious flesh, sauce knuckle-high. It was a bad sight. It was like war. And in the midst of the madness, I heard this:

"seeing you eat crab, is enough for me."

You couldn't hear the softness of his voice but I did. I looked up and it was the most loving pair of eyes ever..

My love!

(you are awesome because you looked past the crab sauce on my cheek and there's still love.)
