It was from Isabelle, my exchange advisor at SMU. Back when I first submitted my application forms for an exchange programme at Mexico, it raised more than a few eyebrows because yours truly knows no spanish; never been to the Americas and seems .. a little too confident.
That was a long time ago. And I wouldn't think we would have known each other that well if I hadn't generous and supportive parents (they paid for my exchange programmes - yes 2 of them) and very encouraging advisors at SMU. My mom and I were privileged guests at her wedding in sunny Langkawi and she has since had 2 very beautiful children.
So Isabelle, - thank you for guiding me along during my exchanges and answering my 'help! save me!" emails when I was lonely overseas. Comforting my mom in SG when I was far far away from home. You have been such a great presence to me when I was in Mexico and I wish you & your family all the very best. Love!!
We met (with John this time) in San Francisco sometime 2006. Isabelle was there on a work trip and I was there for the summer hols. We shared a beer in St. Francis Hotel and talked about marrying for convenience. I still remember that. HAHA.
Ah.. memories!
