Cake.

John and I have always been advocates of a true blue wedding cake. We will rather do without one than put the knife through a slit in plastic. But wedding cakes - the tiered types - cost a bomb. If you want special ingredients, add $500. If you want extra sugar flowers, add $800. If you want ribbon, add $100. If you want anything - add $2000. You get the idea.

We were down and out when one day, luck came knocking on our door. Or rather, via an sms.

"Hey. You need a cake for your wedding?"

It was my cousin, Chloe. Right under my nose, and I never thought of asking her. Smart me.

She is a trained baker with many hotel stints. And did I mention, a heart of gold. She knew weddings don't come cheap; and we aren't exactly in the right position to pay three grand for a cake... So I got a 'cousin' price. =p

Our wedding cake will have beautiful hand-painted flowers all over a pastel fondant cover. Just a teaser now--

Beautiful ain't it? :)
